Week In Review

This is for the week of September 25 through October 1st.

The highs of the week were:

  • Getting our fall family pictures back from the photographer. We (coughLaneycough) didn't give the photographer a ton to work with, so I wasn't expecting any miracles. On the other hand, I LOVE this photographer so much and knew in the back of my mind I'd be pleasantly surprised. And that I was! They are all SO GOOD.
UntitledUntitledUntitledUntitled
  • Spontaneously (well, about 10 hours before spontaneously which is almost as spontaneous as it gets when you are parents) deciding to take the kids out to a brewery after work Friday. Ha! They serve food, too, and there's a HUGE outdoor area where a band plays, there are tons of tables, and lots of space for the kids to run around. Plus, BREWERY, so, John and I enjoyed it too. We met one of our best friends there and a couple more of John's coworkers, so while one of us took our shift of walking around with Laney, the other had people to sit and chat with. The weather was good, the pretzels and beer cheese were good, the beer was good, and the company was great! Our friend then came back to our house with us where we played darts and stayed up until almost 1!

My two are the ones sitting up in the middle and on the right. They were helping cover the ones laying down in GRAVEL. Filthy dirty kids with pockets full of rocks, but they had fun! I even got a "BEST DAY EVER!" from Charley.
  • Then, at 6:30 the next morning, I got up and went to yard sales with Charley and my mom. It was such a good day, too. We deserved it after a truly bust of a day two weeks prior. Charley got some great things, and I did too! Charley's favorite is a FurReal cat, and then this pink wig.

My favorite were these two mini globes that I paid $.50 each for. I came home right away and spray painted the cheap looking plastic parts with some Oil Rubbed Bronze (I keep that spray paint color on hand!) and I love them! Perfect bookcase decor for one dollar!

The lows of the week were:
  • Just all of the rushing around. Saturday especially was non-stop and I even had to cancel one thing I had planned to do. The fall is just so busy with things we have to do and things we want to do (Festivals! Festivals! ALL THE FESTIVALS!).
  • Going hand in hand with that is the way our house is suffering. We've had some help with the actual CLEANING part of it, so it's not dirty, but we just aren't finding time to put everything away. Which is odd because usually it is the opposite where we have all the clutter put away but run out of time with the cleaning part. John and I aren't holding it over each other's head, but it does make both of us feel overwhelmed.
  • A bad customer service experience at Old Navy Saturday. Ran in to do a quick return of 2 things we didn't end up using for our family pictures, and it took almost 20 minutes. They tried telling me the necklace I was returning was not on the receipt that I had. Even though that is the only time I've shopped at Old Navy recently, and the only necklace I've purchased there as well which I politely explained to them. They tried to not let me return it and I was LIVID. The prices matched between the item's tag and the receipt and the description matched as well, but when they scanned it their stupid computer said that item wasn't on that receipt. RAGE RAGE RAGE. Eventually they gave but I got the whole "JUST THIS ONCE" line. Just this once maybe your darn computer should work, jerks. Whew. Sorry. Got mad again just thinking of it.
The best money I spent was on:
Besides things I've already mentioned (family photos and yard sale goodies) I'm going to have to go with the two cookies I purchased from The Great American Cookie Company on Thursday. Y'all know I used to work there in high school/college, right? Well, I almost always get a double doozie when I visit these days, but this time I went back to a couple of my favorites from back then and OH MY GOSH they were even better than I remembered. First, the DOUBLE FUDGE. It's good, but it doesn't hold a candle to the CHEWY CHOCOLATE SUPREME. Holy moly I forgot how delicious that cookie is. $3.66 well spent.

The book I am currently reading is:

I just need to remove or replace this question because I'm in a very long reading lull.

The TV shows I watched were:

Y'all. I am loving This Is Us. Only two episodes so far, but so so good. Also, my old favorite Survivor. Charley loves Survivor too so that has become something we watch together each week. I think I also watched a couple episodes of Parenthood, too.

The dinners we had were:
(Guess what - we didn't meal plan again. We are doing better this week so far, but it's only Monday so we have plenty of time left to blow it.)
Sunday: We had leftovers from the Panther's tailgate John was at earlier this day. So, BBQ, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw and beans.
Monday: John had a work dinner at a BBQ place, and I made chicken alfredo for myself and the girls.
Tuesday: I stopped by my weekly happy hour thing my work does while Charley was in gymnastics and quickly scarfed down some chicken strips. John grilled chicken wings, but the girls actually both had leftovers tonight and we saved the chicken wings for lunches.
Wednesday:  Marco's Pizza
Thursday: This is the only night I can't remember. Which makes me think it was a throw something-anything together night. Peanut butter and jelly, crackers, grapes, strawberries, yogurt, any leftover pizza, green beans, Cheeze-Its, and whatever other thing we can find in the pantry or fridge.
Friday: This was the night we went to the brewery, so pretzels and chips was it for the kids.
Saturday:   Charley and I have eaten lunch at Cookout after her swim lessons each week, and they give you so much food! So, the girls finished off that for dinner (cheeseburgers, hushpuppies, french fries, and I at least cut up some fruit for them too for some semblance of healthiness) and John and I just ate whatever we could find.
On Sunday we decided to actually make time to grocery shop for the following week, and man, how wonderful it is to have groceries and not to scramble for every single meal all week. Again though, it IS only Monday...

My favorite picture from the week was:

Untitled

Not that wonderful of a picture or anything, but this was from a birthday party Saturday. Laney walked around the kids in the circle and seemed to be standing right in front of each one and backing up to where they couldn't see around her. I knew that was Laney code for her wanting to sit in one of their laps, but of course they didn't know that so they all kept moving away from her while I watched and giggled. Finally though, she found her sister who knew what she wanted. They are so darn sweet....sometimes!

The Weekend

It was a good one!

Not a whole lot planned but we seemed to get a whole lot done, despite the house still being messy as we go to bed tonight. But we were on a major project kick, so anytime we weren't playing with our girls we were working on projects around the house. I feel accomplished!

So, I really have to give John so much of the credit. While I come up with things I'd like to do or buy, he really is the 99% doer. While I know my task is important too (keep the kids alive and the house in order-ish so one of us can work on house stuff), his really takes the cake when I think about how much that man can accomplish in such a short amount of time. Y'all - HE. DID. NOT. STOP today. Until around 8:45 when he headed to my sister's house to watch The Walking Dead with my brother-in-law, he worked. And man. Let me tell you - I am THANKFUL. Truly.

So. Lets do a paragraph 'Day In John's Life'. Wake up when Charley comes in our room around 7. She gets in the bed to snuggle, so he goes ahead and gets out. Makes coffee, realizes we don't have much for breakfast and heads to the store. Comes back, makes breakfast and feeds us all. Goes to the basement and brings up our end tables that he put the last coat of paint on last night. Reassembles the drawers and puts them in place. Then we go to Home Depot to pick out tile for a little project I came up with last week. Stopped by my parent's house to get a tile saw and got straight to work on that. Thinset, tile placement, cuts, etc etc. Gets the entire project done and says we'll have to wait 24 hours for grout. Then goes outside and cuts the grass. I left for one hour and while I'm gone (both girls were sleeping) he hangs up a porch swing I scored at a garage sale. I get back home and we test out the swing and it squeaks a little, so then he gets the ladder and tools back out to fix the squeak. Comes in, makes dinner for all of us. Feeds Laney her dinner and then eats his. Then, realizes he can actually grout today, so mixes up some grout and finishes that. Wipes it down, invites me to admire it (I LOVE it!) and then cleans up all the tools. Throw in doing the dishes a couple times and then leaving to go to my sister's house and that's basically his day. Insane, right?

So! The tile project. I was trying to think of what I wanted inside the mantel surround in our bedroom. I knew I didn't want to do the same thing as we did in the living room with the log pieces, but I just couldn't figure out what to do. Finally one day at work last week it came to me and I emailed him - tile! We went and picked it out today and I really couldn't be happier with it. It goes so well with our freshly painted walls (thanks to John from last weekend).

Charley's desk was starting to always be a total disaster. We had upgraded her little desk we started out with to a larger desk that we scored for free, but it just wasn't functional still and remained messy at all times. I came up with a couple ideas to help it be more functional but just needed a couple things from IKEA to make it happen. We went to IKEA yesterday morning to get those things, and then spent a good chunk of time afterwards hanging stuff up and reorganizing.

Untitled

We used the curtain wire hangers to hang up artwork above the desk where a shelf used to be. (Oh yeah - yesterday when we took the shelf down John patched the holes and repainted too. Ok, ok. I'll stop.) And then we used a couple of IKEA spice racks on the inside of the desk to hold her paints and glitter and all. I really needed a place for coloring books and paper so I took a peruse around our storage room in the basement and saw these flower window boxes that I got at a yard sale a few years ago and hadn't used yet. Those were perfect, so we hung them up to store that kind of stuff. I love it! It looks a tad cluttery, but it is tucked away in a corner that you don't really see and it already is so much more functional for Charley. She plays at this desk every single day so I'm hoping it continues to be functional for her.

Untitled

It wasn't all work all weekend though! We also spent a lot of time outside yesterday and today. Yesterday my sister and brother-in-law had a fire/hot-dog cookout at the property they bought next door so we hung out and played over there for a couple hours.

We had hot dogs and s'mores, and then we played with a Chinese jump rope we got at IKEA earlier in the day. Then we used it as a limbo bar until dark.

12806255_10153896996336772_1126927991422248863_n 12794506_10153896996671772_5477820274098243345_n12717928_10153896996751772_6250267405848823349_n

That is John limboing in that last picture. Proof he didn't work the whole weekend away! We had a lot of fun though and we were home before 8:00! Perfect evening! But it did make me want to go camping ASAP. So, we are planning something soon!

Oh! So that porch swing John hung. Last weekend I spontaneously decided to check out 2 yard sales (we don't go in the winter usually - no need to get up early for only a couple sales) and one of them was SO GOOD. I ended up getting a really nice porch swing for $40 and then an iron kid's bench for $5, not to mention TWO really big nice woven rugs for $5...FOR BOTH. They were moving and were just trying to get rid of it all, so they had some awesome deals. They didn't include the hardware for hanging up the porch swing, though, just the chains and actual swing. When I got it home John remembered that last year I came home with swing hardware still in the package from another yard sale that I got for just $1 because I thought it might work for the swings we hung under the deck. It didn't, though, but he hung onto it anyway. It was actually just what we needed for this swing though! How crazy, right? So that is now hung, and there is a tiny spot for my two little loves to sit, too.

Untitled

Man, I love a productive weekend. On top of that I finished up tagging stuff for a consignment sale and dropped that stuff off today. As crazy as it sounds though, there was still time for tire swings and just having fun.

But now? Now it is time for bed. Remind me how thrilled I was with our productive weekend when I'm struggling through the morning at work.

Twenty Dollars

Garage sale season has officially started within the last couple of weeks and seeing as how I'll likely need to take a few weeks off really, REALLY soon, I have been doing my best to take advantage of easily being able to go to garage sales in the mean time. Not only do I love them so, but getting in and out of a car on top of all of the walking and bending over that is involved while shopping in people's driveways and garages certainly can't hurt, right?

We haven't had the kind of luck yet this year that we sometimes have where we have to make a pit stop at home mid-morning because we absolutely cannot fit another thing in the car, but last Saturday started to make up for that. We didn't get a TON of stuff, but the things I found in particular were eerily things I have been looking for or were planning to purchase otherwise. It is so weird when that happens! And fun! That's what makes it so fun!

So Saturday, I took my 39 and a half week pregnant self garage saling and here are the lucky things I found. I spent a total of $20 and here's what I came home with.

Untitled

When decorating Laney's nursery, I mentioned that one of the last things I wanted to find was a little round accent rug. I either wanted it to place underneath the rocking horse in her room, or to put right in front of her crib. I just thought a little rug was just one more thing that the room could use. I looked EVERYWHERE for a little rug that I liked. I polled several friends on 5 different ones that are still currently in my shopping cart on Overstock that ranged in price from $35-$60. These little rugs were only 3-4' wide, so I had a hard time pulling the trigger, err, pushing that checkout button and deciding on one. Not only because of the price, but also because I just didn't LOVE any of them.

What I really loved were the cute little rag rugs on Etsy, but again, the price (due to them being handmade) just didn't fit in my (cheapo) budget. I never did pull the trigger on those either.

Finally I found a rug at HomeGoods for $8 that I thought might work and I bought it and brought it home. The colors weren't quite what I had in mind, but I thought that once in the room it may go more than I was envisioning so for $8 I'd give it a go. But no. I really hated it in the room and it just wasn't big enough either. I returned it.

And then Saturday. Found a rug in the perfect colors. It was oval. It was a rag rug. It was clean and it didn't smell. (And turned out I knew the sister of the seller!) And when I asked the price she told me only TWO DOLLARS. I kept my composure, but inside I was jumping for joy. It is perfect! Perfect!

And, I promise not every item I purchased is going to need 4 paragraphs of commentary. Sheesh Lacey.

Untitled

I updated my mantel for spring recently and for the immediate-must-share Instagram picture I ran out and grabbed some dogwood blooms off a tree out front and plopped them in the vases real quick.. Of course, those lasted all of 2 hours and I was once again left with empty vases. (And fun fact: all of those white vases were obtained at garage sales over the past year also) So all week during lunch I kept telling myself to stop by the craft store to pick up some artificial springy flower to put in the vases because a'int nobody got time for real flowers. I never made it though.

And then, this bundle of flowers was found for just $1 for them all. I had to pull the artificial leaves off because they made them look way too artificial, but I think they work! I think white flowers with some greenery would have been my first choice, but given yellow flowers and the price tag - I think these will work justttt fine. And who knows - I may find just that when I am back out at garage sales with a 3 day old baby next week. ::wink wink::

Untitled

John is OBSESSED with his garden this year. So when I saw those two children for sale I thought they would be great helpers for him. Justtt kidding. They were way overpriced. Anyways, he had mentioned needing tomato cages for the FIFTEEN tomato plants he is growing this year so this was just a practical purchase. They aren't that expensive new (according to Home Depot's website they are $4 each) but I got all 4 for $4, so saved us a little there. And then, when I got home and took them apart - bonus! - there were 5 there instead of 4. So, saved 80% on these 5 at least.

Okay $2 + $1 + $4 = $7 so far. For the next $13 I got....

2 pair of play shoes for Charley. They both look barely used and when she's outside getting dirty as often as she is play shoes are always needed. Both are in a bigger size so we'll stock them away for a few months. The Nikes were $2 and the Osh Kosh $1. It's a lot easier to see her tramping through mud in shoes that didn't cost me hardly anything at all.

Untitled

RAPUNZEL. Do you know how much my child loves "Tootunzel"? A whole lot. Definitely her favorite princess. (Followed closely by Ariel and Anna) So, included in her big sister gift we are giving her at the hospital was a Rapunzel dress up dress because somehow she didn't have one of those. I knew she would be thrilled with it. I paid ~$18 for it from Amazon.

And then, here was the exact same dress, lying there all clean and pretty on a table in this family's garage. The daughter apparently had 2 of this one so they were just selling one. It was $3 and I could easily still return the one I bought, so, I had to buy it. And I'm a sucker and gave it to her right when we got home that afternoon because while I'm all for used things - I'm not much of a used thing gifter and it just didn't seem right to stick that in the big sister gift bag. She's worn it all week I think. She loves it.

At the same sale as the Rapunzel dress score were these "glass" Cinderella slippers for $.50. The dad just let me have these to go along with the Rapunzel dress, so FREE! She LOVES these too, and they aren't slippery on the floors like the other dress up shoes she's had. No picture of these - so very sorry.

A pretty little candle stick that looks nice in our bedroom that will be decorated some day. Just $1 for this too - can't beat it.

And this glass pitcher. We don't have guests often, but we actually don't have any pretty pitchers at all. I have a easy place to store it in the china cabinet so it was an easy purchase for just $2. I can see water with limes in it or lemonade or even just tea in it one day at a possible get together at our house. Or maybe something with vodka. That seems more reasonable.

So starting with the $7 from above,

$7 + $3 + $3 + free! + $1 + $2 = we are up to $16 so far.

Remember how I shared way back when about the whole Pampered Chef saga and how even though I liked the products that they were pretty easy to find really cheap at garage sales? (By the way, sorry Pampered Chef, but that review is one of my most viewed and read posts of all times, still getting about 200 views per month 1.5 years later) Well, I guess the same holds true for Thirty-One Gifts items for some people. I actually really like their stuff too but do struggle to spend so much on the bags from the catalog, especially after they tack on the hefty shipping charges. So, when I saw these 2 bags for sale and the HUSBAND running the garage sale (the husband never knows how much we can drop at those kinds of parties), I knew I had to ask how much he wanted for them. One was the cosmetic bag ($30 in the catalog) and the other was the square utility tote (which they don't sell anymore but used to be $24) which will work perfect to house toys between the car seats in the back seat. He said he'd take ONE DOLLAR for each of them. Hope he didn't tell his wife what he sold them for!

Same guy also had that green wallet that I thought was cute, and again, for just $1 I bought it to try it out.

Which brings me to $19. Um. And I'm at a complete loss on what I spent my other dollar on. I'm sure it was something equally fantastic! It was one of the few times I came home from garage sales, plopped all the stuff down on the counter and was able to put it all away in a new home right then. The flowers in the vases, the dress on Charley, the candlestick in our bedroom, and on and on. Nothing went to the basement except those shoes which went into a bigger-sized-Charley-stuff tote I keep down there.

But not bad for $20 and a few hours having fun with my mom and sister! Depending on the weather (not looking good) and little Miss Laney's impending arrival (also, not looking good) I'd love to take my overdue pregnant self out again to garage sales in the morning. The look of panic when you tell strangers you were due a few days ago is almost making up for having to talk to strangers in the first place. Like I might just pop right there in their driveway and soak their collection of koozies and outdated clothing. Don't worry - if that happens, I'll pay you your $.75 before running off to finally have this baby!

Craigslisting

It should come as no surprise that I really like Craigslist since I'm such a big fan of garage sales. Although Craigslist rarely can compete with garage sale prices you can still come away with some great deals if you have enough patience. So I thought I'd write a post about how I find my Craigslist deals since I get asked about that pretty often. (I also get asked about garage sale tips but I'll save that for another day. ) Although I've had great luck buying and selling on Craigslist, this is mainly tips about buying things.

So rule #1: Don't get killed. Ha. Okay. Honestly though, try to talk to the buyer/seller on the phone prior to going. You can always tell a killer by their voice. Obviously, joking again, but really try and be as safe as possible. Meet in a public place, take husbands (err, just one husband will do), fathers, big burly men with you, whatever. Be smart.

Rule #2: PATIENCE. Look, you are going to get a great deal WHEN you do find what you want. The trade-off for that great price is that it may take you a while to find it. If it was easy to find and cheap everybody would be doing it. Some things may take you months of perusing to find, some you may find the first time you type it in that pretty little search box. I have had instances on both ends of the luck spectrum. So if it's something you don't necessarily need right away, try and have patience if a good deal is important to you. If money's no thing and/or you are opposed to second-hand items - well maybe this whole post is pointless and gross to you.

Rule #3: Be quick! Craigslist will tell you how long a post has been posted, and they sort from newest to oldest posts. If it's something that you've really been wanting and it was just posted - snatch it up quickly! Things go fast because you likely are not the only person patiently waiting for that item to be posted.

Rule #4: Listen to the seller. If they say they only want to be called, call them. Don't text or send emails even if you are like me and loathe talking to people on the phone. It may even put you in their good graces by doing as they asked and they may sell something to you even though you weren't the first person to contact them about it. True story - it's happened to me!

And this one isn't a rule but maybe just a fun little way to get sucked even further into the Craigslist wormhole - check out the map feature.

Chrome Legacy Window 5192014 24346 PM

Sometimes when I'm really feeling the itch to find a great deal I'll go to the entire For Sale/Wanted section of Craigslist. This section contains everything for sale from car parts to tanning beds. But if you flip over from the 'list' view to 'map' view...

Chrome Legacy Window 5192014 30615 PM.bmp

...you can zoom in to your particular neighborhood and see what's available around you right now. Or you can type in what you are searching for and use the item's location to determine if the drive is worth it or not. I like this method very much!

& because what fun is a post talking about Craigslist if you can't actually see any of my successes, here are some of my favorite Craigslist purchases ever.

Just today I found something using the map method. I have been looking for a nicer chair for our office for a while but not actively looking. I was hoping I'd just come across something that I could refinish at some point or another. We have a chair in there already so not a need but a want. So when I saw this pop up for only $25, it's solid wood, AND it was something I could just pick up in my normal daily driving - sold. (well - I hope it will be sold to me. The lady hasn't actually replied to me yet and it was posted 5 days ago so she may not have it anymore. Bah!)

  00P0P_2RRN2lomlbP_600x450 (1)

But the whole reason I was on Craigslist in the first place today was because I was searching for the umpteenth time for a patio set for our deck which has been completely empty of furniture since it was built last year. Most are overpriced or rusted or falling apart wicker or something else not desirable or fixable.

Finally though my patience paid off. Saw this listing about 2 hours after it was posted for a 7 piece set for only $60. SIXTY dollars total. Crazy right?

  00H0H_5ESGHroSmrt_600x450

It of course needs a good cleaning and refinishing but it's solid wood and sturdy and totally doable. The man wasn't going to hold it for us until this evening once we were off of work because so many people had inquired about it and he knows how flaky Craigslist people can be. Luckily though John was able to take a longer lunch and go out (to the middle of nowhere) and get it immediately. I'm so, so happy with it and I haven't even seen it with my own two eyes yet!

I've shared this one before, but it is still one of my favorite finds. It's one of those Sunsetter awnings in the exact size we needed only a few miles from our house for $600, which is 75% off of what they cost new.

1059865_10152034768979325_680397006_o

Another favorite find that I also shared with you before was the glider armchair in Charley's nursery. I searched daily for that glider and snatched it up so quick once I found it.

  5948268137_0f9ab977ae_o

Other things I've found: the dresser and bookshelf currently in our master bedroom, a Beco baby carrier, the fireplace surround I used in our living room, and probably my best find of all - the giant shrubs we got for free, which all but a couple are still living and thriving.

2013-09-22

Are you a Craigslister? I know a couple of you are skeeved out by the whole website (probably due to the sections of it related to missed connections or personal ads) so maybe it's not as great in smaller towns or cities but it's pretty great here.

Garage Sales: Best. Day. Ever.

I know I've shared my garage sale finds with you in the past, but each of those times I ended up sharing the best things I got in an entire season of garage sales. Today though, I got enough awesome stuff in ONE DAY in ONE NEIGHBORHOOD to justify an entire post of it's own. I am still on such a good-deal-finding high which is great on one hand because when you are a garage saler like myself, you'll have good days and bad days - the good days for sure are what make you keep coming back. Therefore on the other hand, it's not such a good thing when we have awesome days like this because you are inevitably let down when the next weekend is not quite as good. But anyways, enough with the chatter - let me show you my stuff!

First, this triptych was only $5.

DSC_0001

The hat box was $1

DSC_0002

The pillows were $3 each, and the duvet & shams were $10.

DSC_0035

Close-up of the duvet:

The frames were $1 each, and each sprig of leaves was $1 also.

DSC_0023

Close-up of the frames:

We all three (me, mom, sister) got some shutters. I have big plans for the yellow one, and I'm sure the brown one will find a nice home also. These were $3 & $2.

DSC_0030

Another rusty stool for our eventual basement bar - $10

DSC_0020

Set of tables - $10

DSC_0019

Wire basket was $5, the Pottery Barn tray was $.50 and the picture $1.

DSC_0016

Some holiday decor - Santa was $2 and the ceramic snowman $5

DSC_0014

Wood bowl - $.50, white/blue wood box - $2,  wood birchy looking box - $.50

DSC_0013

Nest - $.50, frame - $1, and the basket - let me tell you what the lady selling it told me. She said she watched a lady in the Bahamas gather the materials off of the beach and weave that basket right in front of her. So I expected her to tell me the price was higher than I'd want to pay because of the memory attached to it. Nope, she wanted $.50.

DSC_0012

Copper pot - $1 or $2, can't remember

DSC_0007

Metallic vases - $1 each

DSC_0006

IKEA drawer dividers - $1 for all

DSC_0004

Really cute SMALL purse for amusement parks or other little day trips (which I've actually been looking for lately) - $2. White watch was $1 and the tiny frame also $1.

DSC_0039

We needed a new ironing board as our old one fit over a door and that doesn't work in this house. This one just needs a new cover so $3 was a great price for me! Those two rolls of wallpaper were free!

DSC_0038

Two pairs of shoes for Charley - TOMS and Merrell's - $7 for them both

DSC_0034

And finally, remember how badly Charley's wanted a bike lately? Found this one with the training wheels for just $3. She is THRILLED with it.

There were also a few books for Charley and a couple of cute toys for her too that I didn't take a picture of. I spent over $80 today which is insane for garage sales but I couldn't stop myself! Someone needs to report me to A&E or TLC or something. I don't know if I belong on My Strange Addiction or Hoarders or what.

Add that to all the stuff my mom and my sister got and it was one FULL car this morning. I am a little ashamed to show you this picture as some of you really might seek out help for us.

But the stuff was just too good to pass up! Honest! We made sure Charley had a little hole to breathe out of. She was totally fine. ;)

One more thing: I haven't really done anything with our master bedroom and the only notion of idea I had for the room was a general color scheme of coastal blues or greens. Hadn't narrowed it down at all. But after today's finds I'm ready to start on that room. So many of the things I got I'm using in the master bedroom - and the crazy part is each thing was found at a different garage sale. I couldn't believe how everything I found came together so well. Can't wait to start playing around with it all.

Are you a garage saler? Have I convinced anyone to give them a try yet or do you all value Saturday morning sleep too much?
