Saturday Shenanigans

So this weekend was pretty typical. Did nothing Friday night, just watched some TV, played some Wii, went to bed earlyish. Saturday we took the boat out during the day, went out that night. Sunday we cleaned. So for future weekends I may just copy/paste this post over. :)

Anyways, so Saturday was the only day I took any pictures. Saturday morning John went to get the boat ready while I pretended to sleep a little while longer so he wouldn't make me go with him and help. Yeah yeah, I'm lazy. So around 11, our friends Matt and Drew and Drew's gf Cathrin came over and we headed out to the lake. We bought our boat from Joy and Danny about a year and a half ago. It had been sitting for a while so it wasn't in the best condition, but John took it upon himself to completely rebuild it. He not only rebuilt the motor but re-did the upholstery himself. It's pretty unbelievable, I had no idea he could sew, and he says he had only just watched his mom sew before so I don't know how he just picked up this talent. We don't have any before pictures unfortunately, but this is the after:

Crazy, huh? So yeah, all last summer and so far this summer we spend pretty much every Saturday on the lake. It is, in my opinion, the BEST way to spend the summer. I prefer lake over beach anyday!

We ended up maxing out the boat capacity with 8. Cathrin invited a friend out Elza (I could barely say her name so I'm sure that spelling is way off) and then Roger and Nikki met us out there. So here are some pics from Saturday.

Then, that night we decided we would go out to celebrate Drew's 25th bday. It isn't until Wednesday, but next weekend we'll be celebrating the 4th, so we didnt want his bday to be overshadowed. :) So HAPPY QUARTER-OF-A-CENTURY BIRTHDAY DREW!!! We went uptown to Buckhead Saloon. It was pretty fun. I think we were all pretty tired so we didn't have as much fun as we do normally, but oh well. I'm sure we'll make up for it next weekend!

Well, after some careful consideration, lazyday.com decided only Brooke and I were cool enough to have our picture taken. I just wish they would do something about the red eye.

So we took the light rail uptown, and the last train leaves at 1:00 a.m. for some reason, even though bars don't close until 2. I don't know who came up with that brilliant plan. So anyways, we left at 1 and this is us on the train on the way home.

So that was Saturday. Sunday we Wiied, cleaned, and then I went to Vince's 10 1/2 bday party. Yeah, don't be jealous, we celebrate everybody's half birthday in my family. A year is a long time to wait for more presents, ya know? No I'm only kidding. Only Vince does his half bday because his birthday is so close to Christmas and December is already such a busy month for everyone. But I took no pictures so you'll just have to imagine it. Picture hot dogs, hamburgers, and cheesecake. Yummmy. So happy half bday Vince!! You are still as cute as you were at age 3:

Myrtle Beach

This past weekend I went to Myrtle Beach with my family, well most of them. CERTAIN people decided not to grace us with their presence (coughJohnDannyColtcough), but we had lots of fun without them! When I was little this was the yearly family vacation. Camping in Pirateland. Since then, we have definitely upgraded in campers. We used to camp in this...all 6 of us...

...only ours had a super cool orange stripe and neon green countertops. Straight outta the 70's. We have since upgraded to something like this... Just kidding. Hahaha. It's more like this:

So some may not classify this as camping per se, but whatev. We are still staying in a campground so there!

Anyways, so my sister Christy and her family were there all last week, Joy and her girls went down on Friday, and my parents and I joined them on Saturday. We left here at the very reasonable time of 4:30 a.m., you know, not much different than my daily wake up time. So we had all day Saturday and Sunday and left Monday morning. We didn't venture out of the campground much, we just had a nice relaxing weekend consisting of beach time, lazy river time, Racko time, golf cart cruising (more about this in a minute), bike riding, and just hanging out with the fam. I took tons of pictures, mostly of Lindsay and Lori. They were my little models.

So golf cart cruising you ask? Well let me explain. Pirateland is a huge campground and you can rent golf carts to drive around in. Every night around 9 or so, the road in the campground that is just off of the beach becomes a mini Myrtle Beach strip! Everyone cruises up and down this road with their golf carts decorated and some have music. It was so crazy, but fun though. I wish I had some pictures of it all! We were not prepared with decorations for our golf cart, but we'll be ready next time we go. :)

Look what Wii got!

John and I have been looking for a Wii for a while. We weren't harassing the local Best Buy every day or anything, but every time we were there we would ask about it. Well, Monday when I got back from the beach (oh yeah, guess I should blog about that too eh?), John called Best Buy and they had one! It is crazy that these things have been out for a year and a half and the supply is still so limited. But hey, good job Nintendo, it worked. I think half the fun of getting a Wii was trying to find one! But it seems like they might finally be in stock everywhere. Our Best Buy had a shipment of 80 just come in, and last night at Wal-Mart they also had some just sitting in the case.

Now, since the Wii isn't so hard to find, it's the games. We got Mario Galaxy at the store, no problem. The other game I really wanted was Mario Kart. That one is hard to find also. Yesterday John called around to GameStops in Charlotte and happened to find a used MarioKart that had been traded in at a store in Indian Trail. So for now we are happy. The next thing we want is the Wii Fit, but those are very hard to come by. The guy at Best Buy said that after the first shipment of them when they came out a few months ago, there has only been one other shipment of them. Which is fine, they are $150 so we will have to wait a bit for that!

But seriously, this crazy marketing scheme at Nintendo really works! It's like you are a member of some elite club if you happen upon this stuff, so people are buying these things just to join the club! I think it is so exciting to find something that is sold out...kinda like the Tickle Me Elmo (or whatever else is the "in" toy) craze at Christmas. I can see it now, I will be one of those Moms fighting for whatever the "in" toy may be. Pushing, shoving, throwing punches for the last toy on the shelf just so my kid can go back to school and brag that they have the latest. Ahh, so much to look forward to.

Anyways, if you are looking for me, I'll be playing Wii. All day at work today, I'll be counting down the minutes until I can get home and play some more. I'm not sure if I'll ever grow up. :)

UPDATE: John went to buy 2 Wii Wheels at Walmart and asked the salesguy if they had any Wii Fits, even though he knew the chances were slim. But guess what?! The truck had literally just backed into the dock and there were 2 Wii Fits on it. So he got one! YAY!! He said they took it out of the packing crate right in front of him. The only sucky thing is that I would have preferred to put it on a credit card since we have spent so much this week on Wii-related things, but I had the card with me at work so he had to pay for it now! Booooo, so even if we can't eat for the next week because we ran out of money, at least we won't be bored! :) Food is overated anyways, right?

Blog blog blog...

Well for the past few months after my sister started a blog of her own, I have been blurking (apparently thats blog lingo for reading random peoples' blogs) and decided I too can have my own blog. It does seem that only moms have blogs so I've always thought I could not have a blog until I have children, but ehh, I'm sure that my life is just as interesting as those that I have blurked upon. :) So here goes...

First, I feel like a listing of the characters of my life is necessary...

Let's start with family.

Stephanie and Drew E. One of our favorite couples to hang out with. Have a 2 year old daughter and a baby on the way. Roger and Nikki. These are relatively new friends of ours, but we pretty much see them every weekend! Roger can't figure out how to make a NORMAL face in any picture. :)
